  • 1.  Warehouse Transfers and Landed Cost

When the company transfers inventory items between the Chicago and L.A. warehouses, there is freight involved. The Transaction Entry for Warehouse Transfer in Sage 100 does not provide the opportunity for "Landed Costs". Any ideas?

DSD has an enhancement where a Bill can be a component of itself, allowing you to do the warehouse move as Production entry, adding the freight costs that way.

I appreciate the recommended solutions.  They don't currently have any enhancements so I am probably going to recommend a manual method although it is a bit more labor intensive.  Here's my manual solution:

Instead of using warehouse transfers, use 2 inventory adjustments.  Example: transfer 10 of item ABC from Chicago to L.A.  Current cost in the Chicago warehouse is $10 each.  Cost of shipping to L.A. is $100.

Adjustment1: remove qty 10 @$10 from the Chicago whse.

    Adjustment 2: add qty 10 @ $20 to L.A. warehouse.  $100 shipping / 10 units = $10 / unit shipping cost.  $10 shipping cost + $10 base cost = $20 landed cost.

This method requires manually calculating the landed cost which may be error prone and cumbersome if there are more than one or two each day.  Depending on the volume, they ,may elect to use an automated solution such as the DSD add-on.

I also believe DSD has an enhancement for this. I spec'd this exact scenario for a client many years ago. Allow a cost change during a warehouse transfer. It may have been a one off, so maybe not current inn their offerings.
