Warehouse records with Blank Warehouse Code We have a client recently update from MAS 200 4.3 to 4.4. After the conversion, the client found that when looking at certain Items in the IM Item Inquiry or Maintenance Quantity tab, there was a line without a warehouse code. File inspection showed we have records in both the IM_ItemWarehouse and IM_ItemWhseHistoryByPeriod files with missing warehouse codes. The records all have zero quantities and those in the IM_ItemWhseHistoryByPeriod file are related to Period 12 in both 1998 and 2002. History was purged up through the end of 1998 prior to the upgrade to get the record count down enough so we could get the data conversion to run in less than a weekend. The only records in 1998 are in period 12 marked CONV BB. Does anybody have an opinion regarding the safety of just deleting the records with no warehouse code to get them off the Quantity tab?

I saw a customer where when they clicked OK on an item, some qtys would mysteriously appear in the history tab. We found records with blank items in the data files and that was the cause. I've been able to delete out of the data files without issue.

Thank you. It seems to be a consensus that deletion would be fine. I will try it in a test company with VI. There is about 1600 of them.

I ran into this a couple weeks back when try to to convert costing method from Std to FIFO in V4.4. Utility failed due to missing warehouse code. I DFDM'd the fix. So apparently, there is some type of bug in conversion. Guess I'll scan some other client's files to see how extensive the issue is.

_**4.20.12 to v2014.5 Upgrade**_ I have over 1,100 of these records so I'd like to avoid having to manually delete all of them via DFDM. We're still in Test Upgrade phase so I was hoping to prevent these bad/blank records when we re-migrate/re-convert for the go-live. Any ideas?

I've now determined that all these bad/blank item/whse qty records are precisely due to records in the 4.20 I/M Transaction Detail file (IM5) that have a blank whse all from 9-23-99. I've tried rebuilding all I/M files and Sorts Rebuild, but no help. So in hopes of avoiding the process of manually deleting these 1,170 records via DFDM, I think my last option is to try and import the missing whse code to the IM5 records. Any addt'l thoughts?

No-go on the import; need to edit existing records, not create addt'l ones. And the purge (in either 4.20 or v2014) didn't work. The records just aren't being recognized because there's no whse code. Looks like DFDM! Anyone want to spend 146min deleting 1,170 records?

That's when I call a Master Developer and ask them to write me a program that removes those records. Quicker and usually cost effective.

I'm considering using keystroke-recording software to help automate this, but the records are not in sequential order one after another. I wonder if it could be done via an Excel list of the records, for example. I had also tried creating a temporary blank whse, by first creating a real whse and then deleting the whse code via dfdm but still no luck. I had also tried exporting the entire im_itemwhse file, re-init it, then import just the valid records but I don't seem to have the ability to populate the other fields in that file (e.g., qtys, cost, etc.) either via import or various other methods, rebuilds, etc., etc.

The import part could be fixed by editing the data dictionary and making those fields writeable. Instructions for that are in here somewhere by @AlnoorCassim
