General Consultant Discussion

Wanted to double check the Sage certification requirements. It looks like we have until the end of February to complete the 2015 and 2016 assessment exam. For those who have completed this, can you give me any feedback? I'm mostly interested in how much time I need to set aside to complete the review materials. Thanks!

I just did it this week. I went through the 2016 videos, but for 2015 the New Features that was posted here awhile ago did just fine. Unfortunately I don't remember who originally posted it.

And have a 2016c install handy - there were a couple of questions like ""Where in the 100c interface is xxx?

Thanks @PhilMcIntosh for the hints. I learned to have a copy of Sage open and available when taking these exams for that very reason.

How much time did it take @PhilMcIntosh? I'm in the same boat and need to set aside time like Kathryn.

I think about 2 hours for the 2016 videos, then do the test.

I just talked to someone at Sage University. These tests are not required to be passed until January 2017. They are encouraging partners to pass the exam by the end of February 2016 because of the ACA curriculum included.

It was a very confusing notification but note this: ""You will be able to access this learning package (at no cost to you) through February 29, 2016. If the learning package is not completed your Sage100 Application Consultant Financials and Distribution competency role and/or your Sage 100 Technical competency role will expire and not extend into 2017."" So what does that mean? I think it means you have to pass it by 2/29/16. @DougHiggs did you hear otherwise?

Actually, all of this deadline confusion is what prompted my original post. I'm not taking any chances, plus I don't want to postpone the agony, so I'd just as soon get it over with.

Look at the screen shots from SageU. This is what prompted me to call and ask.

@ThereseLogeais I don't remember the lady's name, but I talked to someone today at SageU to clarify the due date. She told me 1/1/2017 is the due date, but they encourage partners to pass by 2/29/2016 because the ACA topics are immediately useful.

Good info on this thread! Thanks. However, I'm not sure I follow Sage's logic re: the 2-29-16 due date and the ACA stuff because we are already passed the primary ACA hump, therefore it probably would have made more sense for Sage to encourage Partners to pass the exam prior to getting into the 2015 year-end season. But if nothing else, at least Sage is consistent about never making this easy or very clear.

@BrianKelly This is the thread that instigated our assessment push.

I received a 'Sage 100 v2016 Recertification Requirements' e-mail from SageU on Wednesday that stated, ""**NOTICE: Your recertification requirements are not complete. Failure to complete your recertification requirements will jeopardize your organization's ability to renew their next partner authorization and your certification will not extend into 2017. Although you may see an expiration date on the recertification package beyond 2/29/2016, please understand that recertification requirements are due by 2/29/2016**"". So even though someone in SageU pretty-much confirmed the same info above in this thread previously for me, i.e., ""These tests are not required to be passed until January 2017"", Sage just keeps piling on the confusion.

No rush. We have until Monday. Nothing was mentioned at MOTM?

Can someone please make a screenshot of the ACA Form and Filing Requirements diagram in the video? I tossed mine after completing the assessment exam and wish I hadn't. It was a great If-Then picture that I'd love to keep on file. I can't get back to the materials online now. TIA!

@DougHiggs nothing was mentioned by Sage and while it would have been a good question to ask, there wasn't enough time with all the other 'discussions' with them. Among the group, many said they have spoken with Sage and have been told they technically aren't required until November 1st but Sage wants us to be certified by February 29th for ACA reasons (nonsensical but that was their reasoning). We passed ours just to get it out of the way. Good luck!

Thanks @ThereseLogeais . Sage told me the same.. the certification test wasn;t due until the end of the year. The email @BrettZimmerman received is a bit disturbing, particularly since I haven't received the same email. I guess I am just going to crank it out and get it done this weekend (I hope).

Many of us got a similar email while we were in San Diego and that's why the topic was brought up. Others did not however, which caused some concern to them.
