  • 1.  Wages to be excluded from 401k calculation

    Customer on 2019 and is getting ready to apply the value of Group Term Life Insurance to payroll.
    She wants to exclude it from the 'basis amount' for the 401k calculation.
    Other than manually adjusting the Basis Amount, I don't see anything that indicates 'exclude from basis amount'
    I tried making it a Fringe Earning - added it to the basis amount
    Of course customer says - many companies exclude certain earnings from the eligible wages for 401k, etc.
    Any Ideas?

    How is she applying?  If she calculated deductions first, THEN applied and didn't recalculate...

    Not sure, but in my testing, I created EC TEST as a fringe
    In PR DE, I entered 40 hours regular for $500
    Then added EC TEST for 100  (value of Group Term Ins)
    It automatically applied FB for 100  (as I would expect)
    Then I applied Deductions
    For the 401k DC it showed 5% of $600 (in the Basis Amount field) and I want it to show 5% of $500.
    In other words she doesn't want the value of the GTI to have 401k calculated and withheld.

    Maybe if I apply the EC TEST after doing the Deductions, it'll not add it in.  Seems like there should be a 'check box' to 'not include in basis amount'  on the Earnings Code.

    That did work, need to answer No to recalculating deductions.  
    Still seems a bit clunky and could be better with a check box!
