Yes, thank you for the summary. That was what I gleaned from that thread too.
I am going to suggest that we try it, nothing to lose since the option is to wipe and install 23H2 or clone another machine with that build.

Thanks... hopefully it's true.
If anyone is able to test this theory, please share results. :-)

Reading the thread, it appears as though that download is just a convenient way to install all the versions in one package.
They key (for one user) seemed to be uninstalling the newer versions first, which allowed the install of the old 2005 version... and of course you'd need to reinstall the versions you uninstalled after that (downloaded from M$, not using the 3rd party installer), assuming the other versions are needed for other programs.
The base assumption is that a newer version of the C++ Redistributable is in the Win 11 24H2 image, and that is blocking the install of the 2005 version.

Thanks, Kevin. I stopped at that solution where it was saying to download packages from somewhere other than MS. I will read that a little closer.
Edit: I did send that link to the MSP though.

Google pointed me at this discussion, which suggests uninstalling other versions, then trying with the oldest first. (I have not encountered this yet, so it's untested).

Edit: oh... I see @Steve Iwanowski already posted this link. :-)

We are seeing this on a new computer where OEM delivered shipped it with 24H2.
Our case #8010283485 if you call Sage to report another instance.
MSP did a bunch of hacking to get the client to start up (without ever getting wksetup to install), but it can't print of course.
Thankfully, they have an RDS to point the user to for now, while they decide how to get the machine to 23H2 and stop update to 24H2.
This is going to be a potential nightmare for coming ugprades....

So Sage wants all their customers to be on subscription and always on the latest version, but they are still using a 20 year old C++ package?

How does Sage expect to stop the Tsunami coming from this update? One of my WIN11 workstations updated overnight.

Yesterday we had another similar issue with v2022 workstation setup on Win11 24H2.

I was told by Sage Support yesterday that "Win 11 24H2 has known issues" and NOT to install it. You may need to reach out to Micro$oft to validate.

The prereq appears to install but then just disappears.

This client is running v2022 Prem. Also, although I could bypass the prereq's and get into the wizard (via setup exe/msi), the Next button wouldn't work on the screen where you can specify the local/client path, but the Back button works.
