  • 1.  VI Changing field when editing

    V2019 / v2018 and probably others.

    Has anyone else noticed this?  When opening the field properties for the account key, the program changes the length field back to the default of 9.  Everytime!  You change and save, but as soon as you go back and look, it resets to 9.  Import then fails and you are left scratching for an answer.  Go back and change, save but don't look and life is good.

    That has been a problem for quite a few versions.  Resolution is you can leave it at 9 and check the 'skip source data truncation' on the header.

    Previously, I would import the GL account into a temp field, the calculate the account key with the temp.  I have used this method for 12+ years.  Never bother to learn a different way.  Client wanted a manual check import and the account key is in the tier distribution (LL) line type.  The temp field does not recognize an "LL" type line to clear the field, so I had to modify the source field length.  One day it worked, then next it did not.  Then I discovered the glitch.
