Very techie HW guru wanted - I recently purchased a new WIN 10 WS for the office. Like my server, I will only access it via RDP so it can sit under my desk and I can avoid having a separate monitor, keyboard and mouse. Problem is I can't RDP to it. I have a static IP address, shut off the firewall and nothing is happening. My IT support person is puling his hair out resolving. There are no duplicate number on the system. The server is handing out the IP address (this WS is set to static. We can ping it from my notebook and the server. The RDP configuration was copied from an existing one and IP's changed. Thoughts?

Is ""Allow remote connections"" checked on the Remote tab in System Properties?

That might have been it. He was busy doing something when I got back to him. He was too embarrassed to tell me how he fixed it. I said no worries, just don't bill me for the education time. What an experience.

Want to make him really embarrassed? Next time he is around, go to your machine, press the windows key, and type ""Allow Remote Access"". It should return an option to open System Properties and you can then enable ""Allow remote connections to this computer.
