Version conflict between client driver and the server. Sage100 advanced version 4.5 and 2016. We installed 2016 advanced on a new server and ran workstation setup on one user for testing purposes. and we are getting the attached error message when trying to print crystal forms and reports out of version 4.5. Does anyone have a document or steps that will allow users to use crystal in 4.5 and 2016? we do have CSODBC turned on. Maybe I just need to turn that off during testing?

Have them set up a dedicated 2016 test workstation (or VM). I make that a requirement of any upgrade that crosses Crystal versions. First, if both Crystal versions are present it's not really a proper test environment. Second, you don't waste time on things like this. Third, the user's first experience of the new version isn't a failure. Fourth, if they don't have a free workstation they have an incentive to get the testing done TODAY, not next month when things slow down...

Agree with Phil. The old v4.5 version workstation setup needs to be re-run after access to the v2016 version. Not only a PIA, but it gets messy. I request clients set aside a specific PC and make their employees cycle through that stand alone PC.

there is a problem with that though I have 35 Heavy users that need to test extensively in Sales order/work order/payroll and RMA modules.

Install virtualbox on each machine, create a VM and copy it to each workstation. Then they can actually test what happens when 35 users are on the new system.

You can try backing up the newer dll files in syswow64 and replacing them with these older ones. Hopefully this will allow the user to test in both versions.

IF they do paperless, be careful of the chilkat.dll's

I have them testing the dll files that John sent. we are working on just one workstation that is actually a spare workstation anyway. if we can get it to behave we will move on to others. I have a question about the VM's though. Don't VM machines require a separate license for the Microsoft OS?

You can usually use trial licensing for a limited time - this also gives them an incentive not to postpone testing.

David you are correct about the license for the OS. But I follow what Phil said, adds incentive to get the testing done!

Testing WILL happen at this client! The owner has put his foot down on that. Putting the .DLL Files that John provided allows printing from both versions (THANKS JOHN!) Paperless works still for the 4.5 version; we don't need test paperless in 2016 for testing and I have not tested that. I'll leave it to their internal IT person to decide which is more of a PIA (.dll swap out on each machine, or putting VM's on each machine) Thanks everyone!

Paperless will continue to work. The emailing is toast unless you reset the DLL's

I'm pushing their IT pretty hard for VM on each workstation - I don't really want to deal with 30+ users calling with Crystal/paperless/emailing issues.
