We are working on v2020 upgrades now, installing the available hot fixes. (One Live two days ago, including a DSD module EM freshly updated and it all went smoothly).
We used to always wait until the first PU, but when Sage started throwing in new features with each PU, even then we had to wait for the bleeding edge issues to pass with each PU.
v2018.3 added multi-SO on one invoice... tell me that is not going to affect absolutely every Enhancement related to SO Invoicing. Such major changes should only be done with a major product release (not PU).

Maybe I'm confused. Is the PU only for enhancements, and hot fixes are the bug fixes? If that's the case then am I safe to install 6.2.0 and all of the hot fixes? Would anyone feel safe installing before PU 1 if the end user has several third party add-ons?

PU's for bug fixes is one thing... but PU's to add features make it practically impossible for Enhancements to remain current. Developers are constantly chasing a moving target, which is a problem directly caused by Sage when they started adding features with PU's (in 2018).

Scaling back is an understatement. I think v4.4 had twenty something product updates.

I can't remember where (MOTM?) but Sage indicated they are scaling back the number of new-content-releases to help developers for Enhancements in keeping current.

Thanks @Lee Graham I tad frustrating. If the end user has a third party product it could be another couple of months before you can even begin the software installation. I hope the trend isn't to always be two years behind. I thought product updates were quarterly but maybe I missed the memo.
