**Version 2016 Upgrades** We are in process with a number of upgrades to version 2016, but not 100c yet. In the latest, during customer testing, a curious user wanted to see what ""Theme Maintenance"" was. Of course, they got the message: Error: ""Theme Maintenance is not available based on your license agreement"". One would think that this would not appear as an option, unless Sage is being clever to entice users to upgrade to 100c. (I tend to think it's a technical issue, and not cleverness.) What's more, the Classic Desktop in this case was not the default for 100. The new look came up as the default. There is a KB article - ""Sage 100 2016 opens in ""Standard Desktop"" view even though feature is not enabled"". The user also cannot select any tasks, so engineering is working on a fix - I assume to default to Classic. For now, you have to browse to the user's Documents folder and rename the ""Sage 100"" folder. You are able to then select the Classic Desktop. I can see this scenario repeating itself for all users upgrading to 2016 for Sage 100. Perhaps I should use this as a sales opportunity and tell them that 100 has some program issues, but 100c works just fine.

The programmers thought they were working on Sage 100 2016. Then some brown nose said ""Mr Kelly, Mr Kelly, look at this cool thing we're doing!"" and the greed bell went off.

Standard vs classic - the two standard themes work with my login on Sage 100 2016 Std. although I cannot change the settings of the themes.

As a reseller, your keys should provide 100c capabilities.

Ah.. I have been looking for a ""download"" for 100c to install that as a separate instance from 2016. Will 2016 and ""100c"" coexist on the same box as two installations?

Same underlying code for both, but your keys unlock 100c and its capabilities. For demo purposes, you need to keep it at classic, but I suppose it may be possible to request 2016 100 keys.

Note that the Gold and Platinum plans on the 11/4/2015 pricing include SI Designer FREE for both 100c and 100 Perpetual, but not 100 Subscription. Based on our analysis that Connector is required for many reports and unlimited users is a plus, I continue to propose the SI bundle. I have also generally stopped proposing Gold telling customers and prospects that this is a savings. The quality of help from Sage has also degraded, so there is less value there.

On the topic of curiosity....We were doing a Year End Webinar and as and added bonus I thought I would show everyone a few new features in Sage 100c ver2016. Switched Application Scaling to large and it locked up my entire system. Had to talk my way through the last part of the webinar and encouraged everyone to wait for PU1 for 2016!

**NEVER** do something new or untested during a sales presentation. Nothing good usually comes of it!!! I have lost a sale or two when in the past...

I was trying to figure out how to tell if the user is 100 or 100c. Is there any indication that the version is that you have keys for? Other than trying to turn on the function. Would have been nice if there was some indicator

There is no designation in the software from startup screen or Help About that it is anything more than Sage 100.

Hey @alanniergarth - I'll be willing to bet dollars to donuts that you will not be able to install them both on the same machine. Queue the virtual machine. I downloaded and installed 2016 and wondered why the Business Desktop looks so different. Then I figured out that unbeknownst to me I had installed 100c. There was no clue going in and nothing in the keys I can find - just a bunch of Micro$soft-like ribbons and such.

I thought resellers were issued one set of keys that unlocked both versions. You are then able to switch back and forth at will.

100 and 100c are the same. There is no difference in software - so no seperate download. 100c is a license only. You cannot install two copies using the Windows Installer on the same box, just as with 2013+. Once you have the new key activated, you switch using settings. The question is will Sage no longer allow future features to become 'unlocked' unless the new key is installed (purchased) even if you own the module. This would be different than today where if you own the module you get any new features for that module. Instead it could be similar to Sage Payments and Direct Deposit where the functionality is installed but controlled by the license.
