Sage 100

verison 4.5 advanced.... Customer just got SPS. Customer has orders that are picked up and paid for with a credit card. They have a credit card terminal they use to swipe the card a sit is cheaper to swipe the card than to enter the card information in Sage 100 SO entry. I was told by Brooks Estes of Sage that if Sage Exchange is running on the workstation and a credit card is swiped on the terminal on the workstation then a journal entry will be automatically created in Sage 100. Has anyone seen this? How does it work? When and where does the entry get created? Do we need to update it or do anything? We envision entering the So with a deposit amount and then charging the card on the terminal. When the SO is invoiced there should be a debit to customer deposits and a credit to sales revenue. Need the debit to cash and credit to customer deposit....

WTH? I have a client with a swiper but they use it while in SO Entry - it just takes the place of data entry. There is a setup option in SPS you have to set so it knows you have the swiper.

Brooks told me that as long as you have Sage Exchange installed then there should be a journal entry that gets magically made in Sage 100. That is all he knows and I have never seen this. Seems unbelievable to me. Client wants to know where the entry is created.

I want some of THOSE drugs.

Also rumored for the 2015 release is automatic year end accrual entries and auto-bank reconciliation entries.... reduces accounting staff by 25%... but only for users on the new Platinum maintenance plan.

Same JE is made when you key the CC number, just part of the standard AR/SO update. Nothing special. Apparently, their ""JE"" is the same as our source journals. But then again, maybe I am missing the ""magic"" of the SPS drugs... You also need to verify with SPS that they are receiving the transactions as swiped as I think they have to make an adjustment on their end also. And be sure the user understands that they have to SWIPE in order to get the better rate. I had one whose swipe reader quit working so they just keyed the transactions for weeks until it was casually mentioned to me.......

@JeffSchwenk What is the payment type on the sales order when using the terminal / CC swipe? Do you still use payment type credit card then enter the cc number on the Credit Card tab?
