verion 4.4 standard - Time Card expertise needed. Brand new ROR change to me. They have timecard and I haven't worked with time card for several years but did a lot of work with it several years ago. Email from the end user: ""I have a mystery with the Time Card Module on my profile. I was working yesterday in the time card module viewing attendance work sheets for various employees and it was fine.. I tried to pull up data that I know is there today from 4/1 to 4/26 and it says no data for selected period.. However, I logged into Sue's machine and tried it under her profile and I got the data "" How can this be? Secondly, in our Chicago office, the employees log into the time card module punch in/punch out module daily, I noticed when we run the report here at the Chicago office, their punch in/out times are NOT recorded It even shows it's there when they punch in and out.. Strange. I was going to uninstall the module on that computer up there in that office but since it's on the terminal server, I didn't want to mess anything up Any ideas?

Doug this sounds really familiar like it was a security issue or somehow a lookup tied to a user. I think I had it before but don't remember the solution.

Issue resolved. This seems unbelievable, but it is true... Apparently the terminal server crashed at the end of December 2015. The former Sage 100 consultant installed (for some unknown reason) another instance of version 4.4 and copied the data. However, he failed to reinstall (or copy) the workstations for each user profile. The result is that users have been entering data into two separate instances of Sage 100. This job never ceases to amaze me.

The former Sage partner is an accountant that charges $280 an hour for Sage consulting. OMG were these people getting ripped off.

Wow, my very first thought was are they connecting to the same install. But it was such an outlandish thought that I didn't bother to post it.

I can believe they have been entering data in two separate systems for four months and never noticed anything amiss until yesterday. They are really lucky because they segregate duties by module. One person enters AP, another, PR and TC, and another in GL, etc. It made it easy to correct. Just copied the data files so all were in the same instance, changed the properties of the Sage icons, and put the INSTLOCK file in the home directory of the instance no longer to be used. Could have been much worse if more than one person entered data into the same module and were entering into separate systems.

How the heck is the GL correct??? Perhaps you should charge $400 per hour!!!! It doesn't appear that they would notice that either....

Not positive yet it is perfect but initial cursory review looks good. Payroll and Timecard were in one system. Payroll is only used to enter employees to be used by Timecard. Payroll is outsourced so no entries are made to the GL by PR. AP and AR were in the other installation and posted to the GL. This is a doctors office and they don't have PO or SO. We are checking to see if their accountant made journal entries to the correct system. Even if they have to re-enter some journal entries it shouldn't be too much work. I will take $400 an hour... LOL... Ed Kless and Ron Baker would probably say it is time to pull out the Knowledge Transfer Agreement and get some value pricing.

A doctors office - $500 per hour. They like premium services...
