V4.50.5 SO Sales Journal posting to a closed GL period and is a duplicate but with a different SO Journal number and different date same amounts and invoice numbers on both. The journal posting dates are 09/19/2008 and 09/22/2008 but the 09/22 posting did not actually appear in the GL until 08/22/2013. The controller noticed today because one of the accounts had a 0.00 balance on 07/2013. This is the second time this has happened for this customer. Data has not been restored, I do not see any backup copies below the MAS sharepoint or any errors in the activity log. Has anyone else experienced this? Not sure how to explain this one

The updated date - did you check user ""iv"" system clock setting? Also odd that the SO-1246 journal is missing the posted by. What's the GL period? In company maintenance, preferences tab, date settings are you prompting for the accounting date and is the restriction on for current and one future period? Those might prevent this from happening again, but odd that it happened in the first place. If the GL is still open for 2008 and the user IV has the system calendar set back to 2008 then I can see why this happened, still doesn't explain the update date. There's a cool tool http://www.worldtimeserver.com/atomic-clock/ that you can install and set to keep the user's date/time updated.

No I didn't check the users system clock setting. That user did the DTR from the GL module yesterday and it included multiple SO batches - only one is from 2008, all others are correct. The GL period it 2013/07. Restrict to current/future is on but auto set accounting date is checked instead of Prompt. Also thought it was odd the updated by was missing. Reviewed the one that happened last year 11/2007 transactions posting in 10/2012 and the updated by appeared on both - different user than JV.

I've seen batches for DTR hang around a while until someone updates from GL. Is it unusal for them to update DTR from GL? That may explain it, but 5 years seems like a long tiime. Did you check activity log and see if anyone DFDM into the system lately?

What GL account is displayed in the .docx file attached? Since it is a debit amount in question, it would be helpful to know what type of transaction generated the debit posting (for example: a credit card deposit on an SO invoice?).

@MoiraGoggin this one was actually updated from the GL and they usually run from the GL at month end before period end processing. I looked in the activity and didn't see anyone using DFDM. @DougHiggs -The GL account is the cash clearing. The posting was from a credit card deposit on an SO invoice. When I view the DTR in paperless it contains (4) sales journal updates -the other (3) are for the correct date.

@LisaDion Do you know if the user that updated the sales journal updated ""All"" batches or chose a single batch to update? If they usually choose each batch and not ""All"" batches, there may have been an orphan transaction not attached to a batch from 5 years ago. It was never posted because the user always chose each batch individually. If, by chance they chose ""All"" batches this time, this orphaned transaction would have been included.
