v4.5 advanced client is being hassled by the auditors for missing receipt numbers in PO receipt of goods entry. To my knowledge, receipt numbers that are deleted are MIA. Does anyone know differently. I am thinking some scripting to log the numbers behind the scenes (number, date, user). Thanks in advance.

The first thing that came to mind is to move them to Premium and then add a trigger to the PO ROG table or the table that manages the next ROG ID to write a row to a log table to track Receipts created. (That's my SQL brain talking) I don't know if something like this could be mirrored in Providex. The challenge is to capture ROG transactions initiated and then deleted before ever saving the ROG. You almost have to drive the event from when an ROG id is dispensed rather than when the transaction is deleted. Interesting challenge.

I was thinking an alert in Sage Alerts could be created to log the event.

Actually @ShawnSlavin - I was thinking about how I could use an Excel pivot or an Access PTQ.................. My line of thinking is a simple script that logs the value when the field is exited. I think this would be possible.

Why not a UDT and script to populate that table when the delete, cancel, or accept button is completed

Sounds to me what really needs to be addressed are the auditors concerns. Do we know what they are? Or is tracking deleted ROG transactions their corrective action? I don't believe auditors typically ask for changes that exceeds the software standard capabilities but it is an ever changing world in which we live in. I'm curious to know.

I am inclined to agree with Joan. Why should the auditors care about gaps in the sequence? I can't think of any way someone could be gaming the system by deleting a ROG entry. Don't the auditors have a requirement to understand the way the client's software functions? I don't recall for sure as it has been far to many years since I was with a CPA firm.

Why do auditors ask the questions they do? The same firm has been in place for several years and this has never been questioned before. I told the client the most likely reason for the missing numbers and am waiting for a response. May not get one. But if I do, I can have some options ready for him. Missing sequence numbers just beg for additional questions. For all we know, this may indicate a truckload of missing raw material...........

Have to agree with Joan too Jeff, haven't seen this ever as an issue. Though, I get your drift, but unless there is a ""truckload"" of missing material, this is just a silly request.
