v4.4 - End user wishes to change some component quantities on a couple thousand bills. What is the best way to do this? Some of the components are miscellaneous items and some are regular inventory items. Has anyone used a VI import to accomplish component quantity changes they can share? Is there an SOP somewhere on changing component quantities in bulk?

Export the lines out and make sure you have the Line Key field included. Your import just needs Bill, Rev, and Line Key in order to put the qtys back on the right line. MUCH easier than it used to be pre-4.x.

Double check a few bills first. I had a similar issue and didn't use the line key and it doubled some lines. Better to catch it on a first test import than have to figure out why a couple thousand are doubled.

I used the line key and it is still adding the miscellaneous items and giving an error on the regular items. See the screen shots below and let me know what you think I am missing. Thanks.

I'm doing a file assign on the line key. I probably need to import the line key. The file assign probably doesn't work. I thought since there is only one instance of a component item VI would be smart enough to find the line key using the file assign statement. Apparently not. Will test by hard coding a couple of line keys.

If VI could find the line without the line key, the line key wouldn't be necessary.... LOL.. Long weekend.

The line key makes all the diff in the world, doesn't it? Ditto PO or SO lines.

Yeah, that's so rare in the IT world (she says dryly)...
