V4.3 (remember THAT version) user has encountered the IM5 file limitation has been exceeded. What are my options? Nothing in KB under IM5. Optimize the table? Purge records, then optimize? Upgrade to v4.4 so the file limitations are lifted? They pay 10K to Sage for support? Sage basically told them to call me and don't ever call back with that issue again. Oh, feel the love.

Best option is what you mentioned already which is the 2-part combo to Purge some IM5 records first then to reclaim the actual space still occupied by the purged records, choose Optimize in Rebuild Key Files. 2nd option involves getting one of the MD types (.. ahem ..) to change the start up code of 4.30 to support segmented files then at the point it will create the .001 file and then later the .002, etc. Later if you upgrade them to say v2018, the I/M Conversion program will know how to read the 4.30 segmented files because (since 4.40) it already has the hooks to support it.

Caveat with Option 2: In 4.30 and before, if you should need to run Rebuild Key Files on a segmented IM5, you cannot. So _RUN ""*UFAR""_ instead.

Thanks @AlnoorCassim - Interesting solution! But the real fix here is to get them off of v4.3. They keep paying their maintenance but don't invest in new HW so we can move them to v2018. Had a heart to heart with the CEO this AM. This may be the straw to move the ball forward.

If they hesitate to invest in HW, go with a hosting service instead. Better data security too, with it being professionally managed (patches / backups...).
