  • 1.  v3.71 Migration issue

    Posted 10-25-2024 16:01

    Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this error in GL? I'm not able to convert the data to v4.0. I have deleted the account with the special character in v3.71 and it still picking these two accounts in the GL history files. I have deleted any records linked to these two accounts (GL1, GL5, GL8 and GL20). I ran all the rebuild utilities. No luck.

    Use Delete/ Renumber/ merge to merge the bad account into a valid account.  the utility should examine all of the tables that have the invalid account and change it.

    @Doug Higgs I will try that. What do I do about the account listed in the example that has no numbers or characters?

    The first message indicates the invalid gl account contains a /.    The second message has a gl account with a / in it.  I would try that account.  If you already deleted it maybe add it back then run the utility.

    Do you have the technical reference and support guide for 3.71?  If so I would look at every gl table and look for invalid account numbers.  If you don't have it I can upload the PDF later today.

    Also rebuild the GL key and sort files after deleting.

    Sorry I'm likely going to repeat things that you've already tried - feel free to skip everything you've already tried.

    1. Run the InvalidAccountCharacters.RPT - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0TwfMghmCJ0Z0ptX0RXQWNkME0/view?usp=sharing&resourcekey=0-vpTwAEcTG12q8irwLHdtGQ

    2. Try using Crystal Reports to review for invalid characters. Plan B = print a big GL Detail Report to PDF using all years of data and search for invalid characters. Neither of this is perfect for finding this type of thing but they might be a good tool.

    3. It's not clear exactly what version of Sage 100 you are migrating to. You mention 4.0 and I'm unsure if that just means "4.x standards" or if you're actually using Sage 100 v4.0 as the first upgrade. Depending on whether you have payroll you may be able to go directly from 3.71 to 2017. I only mention this because (a) it saves you some conversion and (b) perhaps on a later releases of Sage 100 the conversion tools or utility is a bit better.

    3.x ->3.71->2017->2024.x
