v2022 PU1 - Unable to draw folder control

  • 1.  v2022 PU1 - Unable to draw folder control

    Posted 07-08-2022 23:18
Installed v2022, PI 1.  Migrated and converted (twice).  Still getting this error when opening SO Entry and SO invoice entry.

Seems that the sub panels are AWOL.  Nothing on KB.

    Any thoughts?

    TIA

With the * showing up it looks like a customized panel.  Make a copy of the current folder that is in SO/Custom.  Copy the same folder from the current version into the new version and maybe it will open.  Just making a guess.

Good guess.  I will try that but it appears that it is a PU1 introduced issue.  I guess the adage "wait until the first PU to go live" doesn't hold any more.  When will it be safe to go into the water????

@Michele Herzog - FWIW, after doing what you suggested, the customizations were missing from the panel.  I then ran the CO Update Panels to Current  Level utility and the error message (various) returned.

How about deleting the customized screen completely in V2022, and re-creating the changes starting with an unmodified screen from V2022 that works, and perhaps make the changes incrementally saving copies as you go?

@Jeff Fiddelman - Recreating the panel modifications is the immediate workaround suggested in the Sage Community post.  The panels in question each have 12 or so UDF's so I am not in a hurry to do extra work.  This client is my canary in the coal mine.  They can wait for the fix.

According to Sage Tech Support, program fix is in the testing phase.  Hopefully, it will be released soon.

Hi - I just installed this on a 2022 SU1 test system that had the issue.

    It resolved it.

As a point of information, I did not re-convert any data as it says in the PDF.  I renamed the CUSTOM folder with the issue, copied in the corresponding CUSTOM folder from the prior version, updated custom screens to the current level for the module I copied, and all seems good (so far) - no error - user will be testing.

I sent a note to Mitch J last week for clarification regarding 2021 PU4.  Unless you are doing a new install, there is nothing to migrate from PU3 - PU4.  Does it only break when you run the CO utility to upgrade the panels.

Assuming you did a backup (which I did, yea!), I installed the patch.  Copied the CM folders from the backup and then re-updated in custom office.   The knowledgebase article says to re-migrate which is a bit misleading.

    Update from tech support

Jeff, I did not get a chance to respond internally in time to be included in the edits, and it looks like they may have already updated.

    Updated NOTES

    • Install the Sage 100 2021.4 Program Fix CM7000T.exe on the Sage 100 2021 Server.
    • For any custom libraries already getting the error have been corrupted by the 2021.4 version of

this utility and can be corrected by one of these two steps:

o Re-copy the customizations from the source location and re-run the (fixed) utility.

o Or delete the existing custom library and re-do all the customizations done to that screen.

I will offer my thoughts internally and maybe they will update them again, I don't know.  The second bullet appears to be improper English to me.

Regardless, how I understand it is we have two possible user situations.

    1. For Users who after installing and updating to 2021.4 or 2022.1, and who did not run the "Update Custom Panels to Current Level Utility" either from the Customizer, Utilities Menu or by selecting the option after selecting the Convert button in Customer Maintenance, they have nothing more to do other than install the fix.
    2. For Users who do have custom libraries and who did run the utility after migrating or upgrading to 2021.4 or 2022.1, their customized library was corrupted by the 2021.4 or 2022.1 version of the utility and they will need to either
      1. Re-copy the customizations from the source location if they migrated or from a backup if they just upgraded from 2021.X or 2022.0 and re-run the (fixed) utility.
      2. Or delete the existing custom library and re-do all the customizations done to that screen.

That is what I am thinking anyways, but I did not work directly with the issue reported or its correction so I need to check on my assumptions.
