v2018 ADV Install. Migrating data from v2106. Server 2016 virtual environment. Migration was winding down when RPC Server is unavailable error blew. Attached KB is somewhat vague. I am inclined to suspect that the IT handler did not grant access properly as ADV will not run in standard mode (activate.pvx could not be opened) bit ADV does seem to run in service mode. At least it did until the migration blew. 24GB of memory. Windows defender was active during install and migration. Thanks in advance.

Expect you are correct about permissions, but have you run it again with AV off?

Well, second time is **NOT** the charm. IT ended up rebuilding VM server due to other issues. Reinstalled sage100, running in STD mode, full control in Sage folders, my user has local admin rights, STD icon is set to run as administrator. Running into the same error. At least it is consistent... What is the RPC server? Any other thoughts come to mind over the past week? TIA

RPC = remote procedure call. This link is tmi, but may be there is something you can use. https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/4494.windows-server-troubleshooting-the-rpc-server-is-unavailable.aspx

Thanks, I ended up migrating the companies a few at a time until only the bad boy companies were left. Luckily, the production company migrated. I could run the utilities in the v2016 install for this company but it is a YE backup company from many moons ago....
