V2017: Larger Font for Selected Reports: The font size used for selected reports has been increased to improve readability. These reports previously used a 6 point font. The new font is horizontally equivalent to the previous font, but it is 30 to 40 percent taller."" The documentation doesn't say WHICH reports this change has been applied to. Does anyone know? But more importantly, is there a way to defeat it? Could I copy back in these specific reports from a prior version without adversely affecting anything else?

Some of these reports, like the GL Detail Report, are not printing correctly for some users to the laser printers. The data looks like hieroglyphics. I assume that this is a print driver problem. Has anyone experienced this problem?

The part in quotes is referring to use of the font called _Sage Reporting_ installed by Wkstn Setup. This font is 30 - 40% taller and the width scales down more making it possible to make a landscape report with a lot of columns fit into portrait size. E.g. Inventory Valuation Report Condensed. In 2018, some P/R and J/C reports have them for that same purpose. In 2017 it's in a few scattered places between A/R, S/O, and I/M. Having said all that, I don't know have a list of reports that use it but I do know G/L Detail Report does NOT use it. So the clause of the hieroglyphics is something else. Prolly the print driver like you mentioned so I don't think copying back an older version of the RPT would help but you could try it.

Side Note: On these same reports using _Sage Reporting_ font, column headings and other bold fields use the **Open Sans Condensed - Bold** font instead because applying **Bold** to Sage Reporting does not look right.

Also the export of GL reports, v 2018, is now 8 pt font.

I swear to you that the preview of the GL Detail report looks like the font is taller. It looks really strange.

Hmm. Looks OK on my local install. Looks weird on the customer's workstations.

My 2017 GL Detail Report Condensed is using the Sage Reporting font.

That's exactly right @BethBowers it's the Condensed RPT that's using it! Karen what you could try from that workstation is just create a Word doc, type ""Karen is No 1"" and then format with Sage Reporting and see how it looks. Either that or create a simple Crystal report on same wkstn and and format initially with something else then format with Sage Reporting

When the font first came out I had at least one client who got garbage on their reports. Haven't seen it in a while. The client who had issues has old workstations, etc.

OK, that's it. The Condensed option. And only for SOME users. Heavy sigh.

Karen, I'm thinking anyone who was using another version of the GL report before would be oblivious to the change to the STANDARD version due to selecting another default previously.

    Yes, that's correct.

Does it Preview okay but then not print to the printer well?

What is the make/model of one of their printers that doesn't like it

HP Laser P2015dn and Lanier MP 9002.

Looking at the HP Laser P2015dn drivers from HP website, it looks like the printer has Universal drivers for PCL5, PCL6, and PostScript. I'm not sure if Universal = Limited. Well, if they're currently using PCL5 you could have them try PCL6 in case that makes a difference.

Denouement: This problem is resolved. An uninstall of the client on the affected workstations, removing registry entries, and reinstalling seems to have fixed it. I don't know why some workstations experienced the problem while others didn't. I don't know why the install worked the second time but not the first. Whatever. Thanks for the help, everyone.

Just encountered the ""hieroglyphics"" issue on an upgrade from 2016 to 2018 on a couple workstations. In this case the IT guy used a script to install the workstations from the comfort of his cubicle. A reboot of the workstations resolved the issue. It was the S/O Sales Journal in this case.
