v2017 and BizNet. The customer has a new server. I have moved Sage 100 v2017 to the new server, and installed the Biznet software and completed the BizNet configuration utility, installed SQL server, etc. Does anyone have instructions on how to move the BizNet data from the ""old"" server to the new installation on the new server?

I didn't think there was any data stored in SQL for BizNet; the functions and queries are in the Reporting Services database and the customized tasks are in one of the .BIZ files. What are you missing?

What BizNet data are you referring to? There isn't any as far as I know. And it's always been my understanding that when you're moving BizNet to a new server, it's basically a complete re-Implementation.

You may wish to reach out to BizNet to see if they've come up with any kind of ""server migration process"".

Data isnt the correct term. I am trying to figure out how to point to the database. In the configuration there was a setup of a linked server, yet looking at the ""old"" setup I believe they were using an odbc dsn to access the Sage Advanced (provideX). I am getting a SQL error connecting. I am not sure whther I am trying to connect to the linked server or to the providex db via odbc. I am going to check for a possible port 1443 firewall issue.

That error is usually firewall related. I have best luck by opening the firewall for the SQL Server instance as well as SQL Browser (which you want running). Overall, BizNet wants the SQL Server to use a linked server (MAS90_XXX, where XXX is the company code) that points to an ODBC System DSN (on the SQL server) that has a silent login into the XXX company in Sage 100.

@DougHiggs I was told by Biznet just last week that I could not ""connect"" my old Biznet SQL server & clients to the new Sage server. They told me I had to reinstall Biznet completely on the new Sage server. I was also told that I had to have Biznet and Sage on the same server.

Making progress but not there yet. Adding inbound rules on the firewall and fixing the sql instance name typo in the application settings has biznet connecting to the sql server with the test connection. However there are still no values populating the Excel cells (#VALUE! is in all of the cells). Something must be set up wrong in the sql linked servers. @GregStiles I have a complete new install of Sage 100 and of Biznet / SQL on a new server, so just trying to get back to where we were on Friday.

@GregStiles That's not entirely true, but it's much easier to support (and less sensitive to IT security policies) if they're both on the same box.

Thanks @JimWoodhead I got it working but next time I will gladly pay BizNet the $495 and be done with it. I don't do enough of these to be efficient. Interesting, my customer forwarded me an email from BizNet that said they should contact the Sage reseller to do the installation.

FWIW - I generally log a support case, specify that the severity is ""system down"" and that launches a support chat window. As long as you have attempted the install yourself (and run into issues), Biznet will assist at no charge.
