v.2015 Intelligence Report Designer Add-in report with Excel 2010. This is going to sound crazy, so bear with me. The client has a workbook created the normal way through Report Manager. She has several sheets in the book that don't involve linking to Sage. On an old Win 7 PC, she would browse to the SMI_Repository folder, then the Templates folder, and launch the Excel file from there without going through Report Manager, to make changes to the non-linked sheets. This worked fine. Now she has a Win 10 PC. This same procedure causes Excel to throw up an error message, ""Microsoft Excel is trying to recover your information"". She waits several minutes and one of two things happens. One, it finally displays the workbook and she can proceed. Two, it says that it can't open it, so she clicks ""close program"", relaunches Excel, and there's the workbook, just as if nothing untoward happened. I've never had a customer launch this way, so I don't know where to start. Although obviously, it's something to do with the new PC and/or Win 10.

I've had the suggestion to open templates directly for large reports that needs tweaks between generations. However, the steps I learned were: 1. Open Excel 2. Browse to template folder 3. Open template, make changes, save template as template type (marco enabled or not). This opens it as a template, not a file off of the template, which may be the issue for your user. Have her open Excel first, and see if that helps.
