V2014 PU3.... I was out of the country for a couple of weeks and then came back with the flu, so I have been out of the loop since about Dec 15.... I am just starting the W2 / 1099 / 941 annual routine... Specifically, ""The efile client requires Administrator privileges to install."" ... Generally can someone direct me to the requirements for IRD and payroll tax upgrade info? Thanks!

The IRD and TTU's ""seem"" to work without Admin rights. The PU I would still an Admin account to install. Same with any workstation installs -admin all the way.

Thanks @JeffSchwenk I called Sage and they said this install sometimes doesn't work when running it from the menu. The solution was to run autorun from the wksetup folder and select install efiling from there. That seemed to solve it. Any doc on exactly what the IRD does? I have a couple of clients with significant mods on 2013 pu 3 or 4 that also have payroll. What happens if I just install the TTU? Coincidentally both have their accountants handle the 1099s.

@DougHiggs - Good point on the e-Filing install. Worked on a client today where it would not install from the Sage menu. IT person wasn't available so I tried the auturun in the WKSETUP folder. Right click, run as administrator and it worked like a champ. Go figure.

I saw that PDF... I know i bitch a lot but this is another huge pain in the ass.... A lot of these mods are built for a specific PU. For example, I have a client with foreign currency mod (old extended solution). It was built by Blytheco for 2013 PU4. Am I supposed to approach Blytheco on 12/10 and ask that they upgrade this to PU 7 by 12/31? There are a lot of people on vacation, etc the last 2 weeks of December, including me. At what point next year will they tell us of the required PUs for each version? Is Blytheco going to ""emergency upgrade"" this for for free? I don't think so. If they charge, what is the best way to approach the customer? Mr. Customer, I know your annual maintenance has risen by 20% over the last 3 years and you haven't had jack shit in feature upgrades, but there is a $800 emergency programming charge you need to pay or you won't be able to run your payroll in 2015.
