v2013 100 Advanced. Customer states 'Backorder' field in SO Order Entry used to be greyed out and it no longer is. In role maintenance/security tab, there is a 'allowed to backorder all items'. It's unchecked for all roles (except admin) which should mean, users can enter qty ordered, but cannot then enter a qty in the backorder field. Am I wrong here? In my testing with this role setup, I'm still able to backorder items and access the backorder field. Why? How do I get the backorder field to be non-accessible to users? The only thing that has changed is ACS MB/with Scanco was implemented in December/January 2016. Client has no idea when the backorder field became available to them but all users state it was greyed out at 1 point. Would MB have anything to do with this? Thanks

Hi, Nancy. I don't recall any greying out of the BO field, except for ""/"" items. I don't have V2013 available, so I checked this in V2016, no mods. Do you think they might be confusing ""BO"" with ""Shipped"" column, and perhaps BO column was in the secondary grid? You can use custom office, Hide Columns tab, to hide (not grey out) the BO field from Customization Groups. The ""allow backorder all"" applies to items that are not marked as ""Allow Back Orders."" If a user with permissions chooses that item, and there is not enough, the user has the option of BO the item. The users without that permission don't get that option.

Hi Roberta. I'm thinking too they are confused but needed to be sure. Thanks for explaining the security permission. Makes sense now. Client is in a tizzy as evidently someone is changing a previous backordered amount to 0 and it's closing out the the sales order. They claim this is happening in PO too (with the backordered field being greyed out and now no longer is).
