I believe you are talking about Paya and Paperless SMTP using the newer TLS standard (1.2?) now. Thinking about it, I wonder about things like the Payroll tax calculations. I remember Elliott saying the data was encrypted, but I don't recall if he explained how.

Why? Do they not trust their own internal network? Or are they using the same SQL instance for web-based functions too (wanting that traffic to be encrypted, and wondering if making the change will affect Sage 100)?
My guess is that it "should" not matter... with network connections handled by the operating system, not specifically the application, but I could be wrong. Plus there could be caveats related to the client having the pre-req's for the enhanced security. We had some clients have problems with TLS issues when Paya first upgraded their encryption standard, requiring a Microsoft patch to enable TLS 1.2 machine by machine.
As always, test it extensively before going Live.

Not specific to premium, but in general, newer versions of Sage support TLS because it's no longer TLS 1.x which was supposedly put to rest recently. I think Sage uses 2.x now.
