  • 1.  Using MRP with WO and BOM: My client is noticing

Using MRP with WO and BOM: My client is noticing MRP is changing req dates earlier then needed for components of the Firm Plan WO . Client normally used FP WO to plan their production and purchasing. They added projections to the FG recently and noticed parent items with both projections and FP are causing the MRP to change Req dates on FP and requiring them much earlier. For instance they created 5 FP WO with due dates for Apr, May, Jun, Jul and Aug . The MRP reflected those require dates for the components. Once they added projections all 5 FP now have req dates of April on the MRP. Any thoughts on why the MRP is doing this. Are you not supposed have projections and use FP. They normally use one or the other FP or projections, but recently they wanted to use both.

MRP should allow both firm planned work orders and projections. Any chance you can attach a pdf of the MRP report?

I assume you have checked your re-order point information at the item / warehouse level and the lead times at the item / vendor level as well. These could impact your results though your description doesn't sound that way. I'm with Therese, check your dates in your projections and make sure you don't have old projection records in the system that are affecting your calculations.

This might be like a situation I encountered that relates to MRP Options / Explode Qty Change and Reschedule Recommendations: This is from the help screen: Explode Qty Change and Reschedule Recommendations Select this check box to allow MRP Generation to explode demand requirements and reschedule recommendations on existing parent item work orders to lower level subassemblies and components, if MRP Generation recommends a QTY CHG or a RESCHED recommendation to a higher level subassembly. If you select this check box and a quantity change or reschedule is recommended to a firm-planned work order during the MRP Generation process, component dates and quantities are based on the new quantity or new required date of their parent item work order. Clear this check box to allow component requirement dates and quantities to be based on the existing dates and quantities of their parent work order. This check box is available only if the MRP module is integrated with Work Order. Check if this applies
