User upgrading form v4.4 advanced to v2014 premium. Sage sells a run time version of MS SQL server. How is the run time version different from the version bought off the shelf? Any advantages or disadvantages of buying SQL Server from Sage?

As I recall, the Sage version is not a full version of SQL, it only provides what you need to run the software.

The SQL Sage sells has a licensing restriction that it cannot be used with anything other than Sage applications and related apps. It is not physically different, just has additional license terms. Also note when checking pricing that Sage does charge maintenance on the SQL Server licenses...

Thanks for the responses. I wonder if there is any advantage to the end user buying form Sage.... All things equal I would like to get my margin and tier credit from Sage.

I thought there was some pre-configuration of SQL... optimized to work with Sage 100 ERP... maybe it is wishful thinking.
