User Limit Exceeded - No valid Activation Found

User Limit Exceeded - No valid Activation Found"" when starting MAS 90 or opening a task. Client is on MAS 90 version 4.30 SP 23 - running from a Windows 2008 R2 64-bit server. Seems like this issues started when new workstations were installed with Windows 7 OS. Client has 5-user license, 7 workstations (accounting 3, warehouse 2, customer service 2). Most transactions are done at the accounting workstations, the others do ""look ups"". Several times during the day a user will receive the error message. They will have to ask the other users to exit MAS 90 to release a user license (5 Max) even though only 3 or 4 users are in MAS 90. The client thinks that MAS 90 is somehow counting ""tasks"" to assign a user license. I think the ""look up"" users are leaving a ""look up"" open on their screen and eventually the network disconnects and when they come back to their workstation they start a new MAS 90 session using another MAS 90 license. No error messages are being recorded in the System Activity Log. We have excluded MAS 90 from AV scanning, turned off UAC and NIC power saving features on the Windows 7 workstations. Any other ideas?

Had this same problem, somebody suggested to 'activate' the system again, entering in the codes, etc. I did that and haven't heard from the client again on this issue. Started after adding W7 machines to network but server is a 2003.

What does Master Console say? Any Terminal/Citrix users?

Subject: ""xx user limit exceeded - No Valid Activation found"" occurs when starting Sage MAS 90 or 200 (xx = user license). Possible Resolution: Note: The following resolutions apply only to the error that references the actual user license. If ""1 user limit exceeded"" occurs, see the Related Articles section below. (Sage MAS 90 4.xx only) If the user license has not been exceeded, and there are Vista workstations connecting to MAS 90. Opportunistic locking may be causing this error. Refer to the KB 408851 ""How to stop the granting of opportunistic locks in Windows"" (Sage MAS 90 4.x only) If the user license has not been exceeded, a Sage MAS 90 task might not have terminated properly. Have all users exit the program. Delete the contents of the ...\Mas90\Locks folder. Browse to ..\MAS90\MAS_System\, and rename the following files: SY_Console.m4t SY_Workstation.m4t Note: If one of the session files cannot be deleted, either a user is still in Sage MAS 90, or the server still has a lock on the file. If all users have exited, release the lock on the file. It may be necessary to reboot the server to release the lock. Sage Customer Support is not responsible for assisting in this task. If necessary, seek the assistance of a qualified network administrator. Have everyone exit Sage MAS 90. Verify $ACTPVX.BAT has the correct user/unlock key. If not correct, edit the file and correct it. Then execute the file. (Sage MAS 200 only) If the error occurs when starting any task within the program: Close Sage MAS 200 and all Pvxwin32.exe sessions listed in Task Manager. Restart Sage MAS 200.

Since it is a 2008 server, have you looked at the kerberos settings to ensure that isn't the reason for the dropped session. For more information, search on kerberos (might be spelled differently). I believe their is a KB somewhere on it also.

@NancyHanson - will give that a try. @WayneSchulz - will ask client for a ""screen capture"" of Master Console the next time this happens. Normally Master Console shows a total of 5 users as does *Info. No Terminal server/Citrix servers. @Pam Scott - will contact the outside IT guy to suggest that he look at Opportunistic Locks. Lately, outside IT guys don't want to change Opp Locks because it requires a site visit to each windows 7 workstation for a ""maybe fix"" (in their mind = wasted visit). @JeffSchwenk - I will research Kerberos settings - so I can intelligently talk with the outside IT guy. While researching another problem client with 2008 R2 server, I have see references to Kerberos tickets.

The Kerberos ticket issue resolved a similar problem that client had. Received push back from IT because the KB indicates an issue if the 2008 server is the domain server. For my client, 2003 was the domain so IT pooh poohed the request to make the change. Since they didn't have any clue to resolve, I insisted on making the change on the 2003 server. Issue disappeared.

I had IT try the Opps Locking, didn't resolve. Just contacted client, the problem has not reappeared since we 'activated' the system again.

We are having a similar problems on the server you can see that multiple activate.pvx are being spawn. Our client has MAS90 4.3.0.23. Regularly they have one or two users with multiple activate.pvx files open on the server (see below), which is causing them to exceed their license limit. We've checked the normal things like network card power settings, machine power settings, UAC, antivirus, etc. It seems to have begun in December when they increased licenses from 12 to 16 so we recently generated new unlocking keys, to no avail. Any ideas?

What is the server OS? Any Win 7's?

@JimWoodhead User SEASTMAN would appear to be the issue. Have that user stop working in MAS90 on that workstation (if feasible) for a day or two. See if the problem goes away. If it does - see what's going on with the workstation - anti-virus, malware, remote desktop, etc

They are almost all Windows7 (not sure if 32 or 64-bit). .Wayne you correct about the USER SEASTMAN. We were thinking this SEASTMAN person's XP machine was having an issue because it happens mostly to that user, however their machine was replaced with a Windows7 and it continued.

Is the client using CRM? We found that making a copy company and including the CRM module made for two user licenses occupied by the integration user.
