Upgrading a client to Sage 100 Standard 2015. Users will login to the server through RDP. Is it necessary to install the workstation setup on the server?

Christy, if the install is on the server where users are going to RDP you dont have to though I have just to be safe.

Agree with Ron, I always do, just in case.

Also depends on the server version. Later terminal server versions have an install routine to install the client while the older versions only require installing the client logged in as the administrator.

We also always install the client on the server. If for no other reason it is used for troubleshooting.

Something interesting the we discovered recently; if you don't run workstation setup on the server (or on the users computer in the case of a single-user environment) then the common components folder is not created and/or files are not copied into that folder . (C:\Program Files\Sage\Common Components directory). You have to run workstation setup for Sage100 to copy files to that directory. We discovered this when we tried to use BIE desktop on a single user installation. We installed Sage100 but did not run WKSETUP and found that the BIE desktop graphs did not display. After some research and troubleshooting, we ran workstation setup the graphs started working properly. I'm not sure what other functions would be affected, but in general I would run workstation setup after any install where the computer is going to be used as a workstation. That being said I don't think Sage supports/recommends running Sage100 from the server on a network installation.

Thanks all! Got the install and conversion completed. All is working wonderfully, not problems.
