Upgraded client from 4.? to 4.5 back in March as a test and for them to redo all their own forms, customizer changes, reports, add'l settings (expanded item codes in so/po). Tonight we are migrating the production company to go live on 4.50. Customer is now asking if all his settings, expanded item code settings, forms, reports, etc. all stay in place (as long as I don't migrate system settings!). I'm drawing a blank. I believe the answer is yes they stay in place but can you guys confirm? I will be taking a copy of the current MAS90 directory as a backup just to be sure.

I make copies of the Reports, Custom, and MAS_xxx/Reports folders as backup. I have had the data refresh clobber my reports and I had to restore them. Not ALL the time, just sometimes.... :)

Your customizer data and UDF's remain in tact, as well as security. However, your Reports under the company data folder will not. Also, I'm not sure what you mean on expanded item code settings, but if that falls under a module Options data file then those will get overwritten. I would make a copy of the company in the installation so that way it is easy to pull up your module Options in another window and re-enter the option settings in the newly migrated live data company.

I'm in the midst of a 4.2 to 4.5. We just ran the test as a re-migration again today. The Custom Office, UDF changes did seem to stay. I've found the areas that are problems: - Custom Reports - Forms (for newly upgraded modules) So I do exactly as Clark indicated - make a folder and copy your entire test into there. Then when the migration clobbers something you can copy it back. Also see my question today about UDF fields when the customer has Inventory. Dawn validated that if there's an IM_90 present (and the customer is 4.1+ or higher) then the 4.5 migration could incorrectly use some data from the IM_90. Just double check and IM UDF fields to be sure you have every field.

When you re-migrate the company data the forms and reports that were customized in the 4.5 test data will be overwritten. If you make a copy of the Reports directory that resides in the MAS_XXX folder before the migration and then copy it back afterwords you should be fine for those items.

Nancy, I agree with everything everyone has said. The Expanded Item Code is a CI Option setting to allow Inventory and or Misc Items to have I think up to 30 characters. This is a Company Specific feature and will be over-written when you take the 4.2 data to 4.5. And if you are migrating the migration will take over system files so you may want to copy only the company data folder from 4.2 to 4.5 and convert.
