Upgrade of 4.20 to 2014. There are 18 UDFs in CI_Item. Trying to Update from User-Defined Fields and it says ""CI_Item is in use in the company"". I am the only person in. I stopped the Application Server and am running in MAS90 mode, but get the same thing. All of the other tables with UDFs updated without a problem. Sage can call me back ""tomorrow maybe"".

    Did you reboot the server???

I suggest to go to stop all Sage tasks, applications, etc. make sure Pep isn't running (doubt that it's PEP). Then, go to task manager. Sometimes a pvxwin32.exe will still show up in the task manager under processes. Kill it. Reboot server is my next suggestion.

Are both versions on the same server? Maybe it's the 4.20 causing the problem. Reboot would be my next step as well.

A reboot didn't solve the problem. Only version 2014 is on this new server. Any other ideas?

Oh, great. None of the UDFs are in the records in CI_Item. They're all gone.

Well, I'm logged directly into the server as Administrator, so probably not security. I guess the data file didn't convert correctly.

Are the UDFs actually missing in the file (DFDM or just simple ALE lookup to view) or in the Inventory Screen. If the latter only, you need re-remodify the screen, since that one is in the new business framework. If the former, I'd try reconverting the entire MAS_XXX. Perhaps the second time will work. Otherwise, an Export from the old system and an import into the new one might be the most practical answer.

You might try copying the original CI_Item files into 2014 and reconverting or, if push comes to shove, export the records from 4.20, set up the UDFs in 2014, and import them back in. If these UDFs are populating other files (SO_InvoiceHistoryDetail,etc) make sure they are still there too!

Well, if you have done all the other installation and you are just converting, rename the MAS_xxx folder in v2014, copy the MAS_xxx folder in v4.2 over to v2014 and start the conversion again. No need to use the Sage utility...

Oh, sorry, they are in the file. I was looking for them at the bottom of the listing in DFD&M, but they've been moved to the middle of the list of fields. So, back to the original problem of not being able to Update the UDF's.

One of my tech resources says I can go forward with the upgrade at this point and let Sage figure out the problem at their leisure. Thanks for everyone's input!

I think the UDFs should be at the bottom of the file. Sounds like the Dictionary is messed up.
