Upgrade involving eBusiness Web Services (planned

Upgrade involving eBusiness Web Services (planned for early next week) Customer is currently on v2013 with a website plugged in using Web Services (which I didn't originally install). Now they are upgrading to v2017 (same server). I've installed Sage 100, but am waiting for the ""go live"" date next week before doing anything with Web Services. I found the install guide for Web Services, but nothing specific about the steps for handling an upgrade (not even in the KB). I'm wary of just doing what is logical (uninstalling eBWS for 2013, migrating data and installing eBWS for 2017 after the data conversions...) without knowing I'm not missing any steps. Is there an upgrade guide for eBWS? Any tips / potential pitfalls to be aware of? TIA

Oh joy... just checking in after the test migration was done (finished using the back door) and the Advanced service is broken.

(False alarm on the error... a corrupted process was left running).

You will need to confirm that the path to the Sage folder is updated to the new location for the live data in the Web Services Configuration Utility.

Thanks @ToddMartin . I've added that to my checklist. There are UDF's exposed to WebServices. Will I need to re-create those settings after installing eBWS for v2017, or will the v2013 settings carry over automatically if I use the same install path? I see the current processes run under a Windows account called ""eBusinessWebServices"", but don't see anything in the documentation about configuration. (I don't know the password for the account). Is that handled by the installer?

If you install it as a second instance of web services, yes, you do. You would also need to setup IIS to point to the new path of the instance. If you update the existing, then it should keep it. The web.config file in the install folder for web services contain the settings.

...update the existing..."" That is the goal... and presumably the uninstall 2013 / install 2017 will get me there. I have a copy of web.config to be safe. Thanks again. Seriously, Sage should have this documented somewhere.

No when you install web services it will pick up that you have an instance already installed. It will give you the option to install a new instance or upgrade the existing. You would upgrade the existing.

Thanks again @Todd Martin.  (I'm planning another upgrade involving eBWS and the Sage documentation is still lacking upgrade instructions).

Wow I am glad you were able to find that! Not much has or will happen to web services. You can check out http://www.sagedataexchange.com/demo/. Might be a better option as it is actively developed.

Actually I thought this was about Web Services not eBusiness Manager. If you are looking for some info on that you can try http://www.4ebm.com. It has some info there but the documentation hasn't really been updated in for ever. Like Web Services it is not updated.
