Attempting to go to the first step (2017).  Finally got all traces of AS out of the old version of Sage and the install was going well until it was merging at the end.  Got "Install method failed with the following error: The M/R is invalid".  Any ideas?

(Google found an old KB entry that told me to reinitialize SY_ReportOptions, but that didn't help.  And to go into Business Insights Reporter - also didn't help.)

M/R is the old Magnetic Media / Electronic Reporting. In a prior step the installer actually tries to uninstall M/R if it's detected but if that fails it doesn't record the failure in the Sy_Installation log files <sigh>. Look for M/R in Sy_Module, an [lM/R] record in SY0CTL, MR folder, MRxxx folder, that type of thing.

And... no M/R anywhere.  SY0CTL, SY_Module, any of the file folders (and they had 3 years of payroll backup from 2005-7), no MR program folder.  It's probably a fooler error, like those J/C errors when J/C doesn't exist.

This client may end up have to export old data and import in.  Not all that sympathetic.
