Upgrade customer from 4.40 to 2014 in a hosted environment. I'm connected to the server. When I try to print any document (IML, AP Register), the document prints but then processing hangs and doesn't finish. Also happens on the terminal server. Took real printers out of the picture and am using XPS Document Writer and/or Export/Email print option in Sage. We had paperless turned on but turned it off and still occurring. I uninstalled wksetup and installed using 'run as administrator', I stopped/started the print spooler. Checked role maintenance, no problem. I can preview, print to XPS, close preview and update successfully. During the processing the windows grays out and then I get a 'not responding' (see jpg below). What would be the problem? I don't see antivirus on the server, but do see a third party (not integrated) Job Boss program that runs in the background. I can successfully print from the 4.40 version.

Are you upgrading in place or do you have a new server? If you are in place you are with the wrong provider. Sage copied I-BN's process of providing a new environment pre-installed for upgrades with a free window for migration. This is best practice.

It may not be related, but have you tried testing the PDF Converter in the PL_AdvancedOptions_Ui with success?

@GaryFeldman, I'm doing a parallel on an existing server. It's just a server that is offsite. @MichelleBennion, when we had paperless turned on, the converted tested successfully but paperless still hung, hence we turned it off for now.
