  • 1.  Updated Proposals from the Negotiation Collective for Workshop and Keynote

    Posted 11-06-2023 15:24

    Hi everyone

I would like to formally propose Scott Tillemna for the Keynote and a Workshop.  Here are two new proposals for our consideration and review.  Please note that the pre-sessions are on hold for a few weeks to see what Sage brings to the technical pre-session table.  But in the interim, I think this is a good start for review.

Proposal One:  Pre-session and Keynote:  90 Minds Follow up proposal #1 (hs-sites.com)  ($15,000)

Proposal Two:  Keynote and 2 hour Workshop during General sessions: 90 Minds follow up proposal #2 (hs-sites.com)  ($12,000)

Please post any comments or questions.  Thanks!

At the BOD meeting Alan Clark had suggested getting Dave Cieslak from RKL talk about AI.   I just saw his session at ITA and was really impressed by the presentation.   He not only explained the concepts in plain english, but discussed the current state of AI and how it will impact software, our organizations, and our customers.   I have no issue with Scott or the proposals, but personally believe that the this topic would be amazing and very applicable for our constituency.

Sounds good.   Do you think that he could get us a proposal? Have you connected with him? We would need to talk to him right away.

A couple of questions that I have.. was he the keynote at ITA?

If so, then I would recommend perhaps a workshop proposal instead of a keynote. I'm not interested in repeating keynotes with partner organizations. We could also schedule perhaps a virtual session of some sort.   Let me know. Thanks!

He was not the keynote.  David is a longtime ITA member and used to do a great "Inspector Gadget" series.  Always extremely entertaining.

Monday kenote was Nick Webb on "Innovation Is Out... Chaotic Innovation Is In"   A futurist, author and entrepreneur in the medical device industry.    In the ever-evolving landscape of innovation, we find ourselves in an era of chaotic innovation. Over the past two decades, we have journeyed from symmetrical innovation to disruptive innovation, and now we face the amorphous nature of change and the staggering speed at which it occurs. This rapid transformation is largely driven by emerging technologies that are shaping the way we live and work. Among these technologies, artificial intelligence (AI) stands as a ubiquitous force, with powerful tools like ChatGPT and Bard pushing the boundaries of what's possible. Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is automating standard business processes, while advanced connection architectures are revolutionizing the way we connect and interact. In this captivating and uplifting talk, renowned technology futurist Nick Webb presents a compelling framework for harnessing the potential of emerging technologies. With a focus on driving predictable and scalable growth, as well as improving the quality of work life and customer experiences, Nick offers an accessible and engaging approach to navigating the future.

Sunday Keynote was Mark Schulman a speaker and drummer for Billy Idol, Cher, P!NK, Foreigner, Simple Minds, Stevie Nicks, and Billy Idol on "Hacking the Rockstar Attitude: How to Rise Up in Uncertain Times."  Great performers in business are called rockstars, but true rockstars can teach the business world a lot about leadership, teamwork, resilience, engagement, and performing at the highest levels. Mark's ultra high-energy presentation is where music, video, audience interaction, and the secrets of rockstar performance collide. He inspires audiences to hack the rockstar attitude to discover the joy and success that comes when they're fully engaged – on purpose. It's as simple as ABC: Attitude.Behavior.Consequences. Mark shows how creating that attitude shift – and viewing what you're doing everyday as a performance – will literally change your life.

I am good with either proposal, and I do think the Keynote and Workshop probably fits best since we already have a couple other Pre-sessions lined up.

I also like the Gary's suggestion for an AI session from Dave Cieslak.

We have some very talented options.  I like Scott Tillema for a 2 hour session and the keynote.  I also like Dave Cieslak for one of the sessions.

There are a LOT of great options floating around about the pre-session potential conversations. When we get to a point where we're done collecting proposals (or even now), would it be prudent to poll the 90 Minds members about which ones they would prefer to have at the event? That would give them a voice in the conversation and allow them to put a priority to which sessions resonate the most with them.

We can leave off the cost or include it. Normally, I'd say "just leave it off," but you're dealing with people that sell accounting software. The cost and seeing how their membership dues might be spent could influence their decision, too. i.e., "I wouldn't have gone with [option] if I knew it was $12k. I liked the idea of it, but I didn't $12k like it."

With this being my first year on the Education Committee, I feel like there's a bit of analysis paralysis as each pitch sounds good and I'd love to sit through it. However, Sage 100 consultants and ERP consultants still surprise me with the things they would be interested in seeing. Just when you think they'd 100% be onboard with a session, they'll express greater interest in another. So rather than guess, I like the idea of asking them to vote. Poll them with two questions: Which session would you prefer to see as a 2-hour keynote/workshop? Which session would you be interested in a full-day workshop? The answers to both questions can be the same, and we'll get some necessary insights into what's important to them.

With MOTM being 3.5 months away, it would be very relevant to ask now with a shorter runway to the event.
