Sage 100

We plan to upgrade a client from 2017 Standard to 2019 Advanced.  The two versions will both be active during the testing period.  When we get new keys, will ET phone home and "break" their 2017 by updating keys?

I can't guarantee this but I recall doing several similar upgrades and did not run into key issues. I do recall hearing from users at MOTM regarding possible issues with keys for users who went from standard/advanced to premium. As best I can tell that's not presently happening or if it is that people aren't posting about it.

There could be other reasons why I didn't run into an issue including the length of time it took to upgrade -- if you have a 1-year start to finish then you could run into an issue vs a 3-month start to finish upgrade.

I also don't think the key change from std to advanced has as much of an impact provided you aren't trying to re-install standard with advanced keys ( which then insists you install whatever the keys allow ).

In fact I'm working on an upgrade now where the old version (2018) is standard.  Apparently at one time I had them upgrade the keys to advanced and for whatever reason we did not actually complete the move to advanced because the 2019 version I'm installing automatically installed the advanced version even though I requested standard.

While I believe the Advanced keys will work for an installation where the keys auto-update/enter manually from already installed Standard ( and the user keeps using Standard ) --- I do not think they will work if, for example, you are doing a new install and trying to install Standard but only have Advanced keys. You'd need to request Standard keys or the install routine installs Advanced ( or whatever keys you enter ).

In your example, you were ok because you actually wanted to upgrade to Advanced. If you had wanted to upgrade to Standard 2019 you would have had to get Standard keys.
