Upcoming 4.5 Adv to 2017 Adv upgrade on same server. Client uses Avatax. For testing period, both versions of Sage/Avalara would be live. Avalara KB doesn't recommend having 2 versions of Avatax installed on the same server. Their KB doesn't go into details about potential issues, other than both versions could have problems. Asking Support for details. Anyone had an experience either successful or not with running 2 versions simultaneously on the same server?

If both have the same invoice numbers, they will fail, e.g. you copy the live to the test then try and create invoices that already exist in Avalara, you will get an error. You CAN copy it to a backup TST company then create that company on the Avalara dashboard as a Test company. That would be fine.

The last one I did, I believe I installed Avatax on the Test Sage but I told the customer they could create invoices, but to not update any Invoices in SO/AR so as to not send transactions to Avatax. It was a 4.40 to 2017 upgrade. It was the same server too.
