Occasionally (like today) when running PR (v2.20.3) this error pops up (print/pdf all and electronic delivery) method.  It seems random.  Restart the PR, it will blow at another employee.  PR run is >200 employees.  I then ran the check run at the server  Blew up there as well.  Doesn't happen every pay run.  Is this a lockfile issue???

    Thanks in advance.

I have this same thing going on.  KB Article says to reinstall PU.  Haven't tried it yet, but need to apply a new PU anyway so was waiting for that and see if it worked.

Try have them disable av. I had this a couple of times and it was an av issue.

@Nancy Hanson - What is the KB article #?  Which PU are they referring to - The PR 2.20.3?  The unusual issue today is when this message popped, the check printing just stopped.  In the past, you could click OK and it would continue to process.  VERY frustrating.  @John Leonard - shut down AV for the entire workstation or just not scan the Sage folders?

This is exactly what happened the other day at my client; it was due to 2 people printing to PDF (direct deposit stubs in 2 different companies) at the same time.  The resolution was to ensure that the Use Lockfile field = Y in the sy_company file...

... which segways nicely into the post I made 2 days ago "Use Lockfile Explanation".

Hard to pin point the ultimate solution.  Reinstalled the PU's but that didn't have any effect.  I think uninstalling the pdf converter, then reinstalling with the lockfile option selected did the trick.  Or I got lucky.  200 PR pdf's were successfully created.

I just went into company maintenance via DFDM and changed the Use Lockfile setting to Y, which is essentially the same result.  My client is so scared though, that they make sure one user is done with payroll processing in company A, before the other user starts processing payroll in company B.

Hmmm - I assumed use lockfile was a workstation setting, not company wide.  Where does the default come from?  From the last WS install setting?

The Use Lockfile setting in the SY_Company record is set when you run the PL_AdvancedOptions utility.  Selecting the Use LockFile checkbox only affects the currently active company code. If there are multiple company codes in use follow the process below by accessing each company code, then running the utility.
    1. From the Sage 100 ERP Desktop, open File.
    2. Select Run
    3. For Program, enter PL_AdvancedOptions_UI
    4. Click OK to open the Paperless Office Advanced Options task window
    5. Select the "Use LockFile" checkbox so that it is checked
    6. Click OK
