  • 1.  Unable to Change an Item Code

    A customer is trying to use the IM Delete/Change utility and change an existing item code to a new item code. She has the current item code in the Starting and Ending fields, and has entered a new code in the New Item Code field. The system returns the message: Skip - ItemCode not on file.

    Any ideas?

    Imported?  Maybe unprintable character at end of the item code.  Can you view in DFDM?

    Also check out for " because I've seen that cause issues with renumbering – especially if she's importing them in. It will import with """ or "" depending on how the file was created.

    I would first check the item in DFDM to make sure there's no hidden character or leading space in the item code.

    Two things:

    1. If it is just one time, make sure she didn't already run it by accident and forget to clear.
    2. I would have her setup the item code she is metering into just to rule it out.

    The customer just replied:

    I just figured it out! Sage does not like me copying and pasting from Excel into the Utility. So I completed the entry w/o copying and pasting, and it worked!

    I will thank you all, as she thanked me, for working on a Saturday.  :-)

    Copy - Paste from Excel does include extra characters for sure.  Sometimes Sage programming removes the extras, but not in some places, like that screen.
