    Ugh..... I wish I had a nickel for every time I ask the IT to log onto the workstation as the **SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR** before making the connection to install the Sage workstation client ONLY to find out 45 minutes and three failed installation attempts later that no, he is logged in as the user who has domain administrator equivalence. I could be on a beach somewhere sipping a pia colada.

    I feel your pain. I've finally come to the point where nothing is assumed and what is needed is stated very specifically. The challenge is not to be condescending to IT staff who have egos that need special consideration.

    Simple solution - assign these tasks to IT.

    @JohnHoyt - Simple but not bullet proof. Most would end up calling an hour later. I would ask if we are logged in as the administrator at which they would answer yes. We would go through all the steps again. Encounter failure and then ask the BIG question while being careful not to rough up their ego.
