  • 1.  Two versions of CS ODBC driver on one server ?

    Posted 08-13-2022 07:10

Installing an upgrade of Sage100 advanced 2022 this weekend, client going from 2019 to 2022.  They use the CS ODBC (running as a service)
for improved performance when running reports.

In the past, I seem to remember we had issues where after installing the new Sage100 advanced (Mas200 ??) the CS ODBC for the new version would work fine,
but the old one no longer would....

Has someone done this recently, who can confirm that as long as the new version and old version are set up on different ports, that both CS ODBC versions will both work at the same time on the same server.  So their live system will continue working the same, and on a test PC, they can start testing the new one system ?

This question is only about the cs ODBC driver, not Sage 100 advanced itself.

    Thanks in advance

    Jeff F.

Is the CS ODBC hardwired to the 20222 (or whatever port)?  If not, what about changing the port ID for the server and in Sage?

You can change the port in the registry here:
    HKLM\Software\WOW6432Node\Sage Software\Providex File Server : Port = XXXXX

Then restart the C/S ODBC Service.
I just tested it, and the listening port changed after the service restart. Seems as simple as that.

Jeff F - The switch / parameter that you pass to pvxiosvr.exe is -i but that installs it on default port of 20222. I imagine there is a another switch to use an alternate port and if you're able to do that then in System Config you can then also change the port there to the alternate one. If you can't find the hidden switch, looks like you can edit the registry (or create new reg keys/values with the alt port) in the location mentioned Sage KB article for Client Server ODBC, which is KB 51211 or the hidden switch might buried in here: https://manual.pvxplus.com/
