Trying to connect to SOTAMAS90 from excel to create a query and get this message. The KB says 64 bit applications cannot access a 32bit DSN's and you are attempting to execute a 32 bit application/script with a 64 bit scripting application or vice-versa. Recommends install 64-bit ODBC driver. Would you also suggest this? Secondly would this also make a STD report in Sage v2017 bring up a login screen(I have not seen this one before-not like the crystal one) with the users Sage login info and then gives an error and no data will show? I checked and tab 5 in role maintenance is all checked so user should be able to see all data. OS is 64 bit, but forgot to check excel.

You'll definitely want the 64-bit driver since it sounds like Excel is the 64-bit version. I always install it nowadays (mainly for SQL Linked Server purposes) since it only takes a few seconds to run. For your second question, I've never seen the behavior you describe, but installing the 64-bit driver really can't hurt.

Escalated to Senior team at Sage and they are stumped. I don't feel so bad now.

Problem with the ""senior "" team at Sage these days is that you only need 9 months of experience to qualify....

This is still not figured out. So happens I have the same issue on my laptop. I know it had been working earlier in the year. Begin to believe it is a microsoft issue. I have Biznet reading my ODBC connections with excel 64 bit. Not sure why excel can't see them when I try to query Sage. Here seems to be the final error message in some form of this error 193.

Are you logged into Sage when trying to query in Excel?

Did you try a search to see if you have duplicates of that file?

I have been all in/out of the System32 and SysWOW64 folder along with regedit. Uninstall/install, you name it I have most likely tried it. This error 193 is common for other programs, though have not come across a resolution that makes sense.

Is this for a Std or Advance Sage 2017? I couldn't tell. Have you tested the connection under ODBCCad32? ( ODBCCad32.exe, highlight the SOTAMAS90, & click Configure. Go to the Debug tab and click Test Connection. You should be prompted with Sage logins and then get a message that Connection succeeded). If that does work, set up a new SOTAMAS90 connection under System DSN instead of user with a unique name and see if you can connect in Excel via the system dsn.

Sage version does not matter. I can create 32 bit system dsn all day long. Do not see them when using 64 bit @MoiraGoggin
