Try to install YE IRD and PR 2.23.0 update. "Active Users" message

I'm trying to install both the YE IRD and PR 2.23.0 update into a SAGE 100 STD v2022 PU2 system running on a virtual server with Windows Server 2019. When I run either of the two .exe files "Run as Administrator" it starts the install but then an "Active Users" (see attached) message pops up.

I then followed SAGE KB #41722 article and checked for users and ghost users in Master Console, and open PVXWIN32.processes in Windows Task Manager on the server. NONE. The only step I did not do was check for open files on the server because the instructions in the KB did not match Windows server 2019.

Any ideas where to look next?

    Probably worth trying a reboot.

Thanks @Brett Zimmerman and @Doug Higgs... I will ask the inhouse IT guy to reboot the server b4 he heads home and then try again. If that does not work, I will follow Doug's advice and report back. Thanks!

Along with what @Jeff Schwenk said, did you look for pvxcom.exe tasks running in task manager?

@David Overholt and @Jeff Schwenk ... No outside integrations, just plain SAGE 100 GL, AR, AP and PR.  Yes, I did check for pvxwin32 tasks in task manager on the server. NONE found. The inside IT guy said that they will reboot the server b4 they go home today. I will remote into the server this evening and try again. Thanks

I was actually asking about pvxCOM.exe a little different, but I think you would have noticed that too.

Ok, old dogs can learn new tricks....Connected to client's application server (in the evening after hours) and fired up SAGE 100 v2022. In master console noticed that one off-site user was still logged in SAGE 100. Used the Master Console utility to force a shutdown. I thought that this forced shutdown was a logoff - nope.

Stumbled my way through Windows Server 2019 Administrative Tools menus (I'm not an IT guy) to a list of open files. Found that my off-site user left 25+ files open in SAGEv2022\MAS90...etc. Used the option to close each file one-by-one.  I was then able to install YE IRD and PR 2.23.0 updates.

I don't really know, it's possible that the off-site user connected into SAGE 100 after IT rebooted the server.  She is located in a different city and may not have been informed to "stay out of SAGE 100" for the evening.

I had a similar issue recently where no users were showing in Master Console and no Sage 100-related items were showing in Task Manager.  Can't recall if I rebooted the server but I know I ended up killing Sage 100 session/open files via Computer Management:

Master Console doesn't kill workstation processes for Standard.  You have to use Brett's "Open Files" list to shut things down for Standard.  (Shift-click + right-click allows you to do multiples at once).

Similar issue happened to me today.  v2020 ADV and v2.23.0 installed.  Tried to make backup company of live account prior to running YE for PR (Yes, I know you don't need to).

Kept getting error that prior year PR data was in use.  No one in per master console.  Shut down Sage service.  Tried to copy in MAS90 mode.  No go.  Rebooted server, shut down service, tried MAS 90 mode copy.  No go.

Finally renamed PRPYR folder.  I was able to copy the Live company data to PYR company.

I have also experienced this.  So far restarting the Sage server has worked.
