    Hi everyone

Does anyone know if True Commerce EDI integrated with Sage 100 requires a Sage 100 license or uses Business Objects to integrate?  And if does require a license, can the free license that allows Sage CRM to work be used?

Doug - Yes TC uses BOI. It uses a Sage license then releases it when it's done creating the SO's (or whatever the data entry is).  This has been discussed several times on other threads of how unfortunately one cannot "reserve" a Sage license from the license pool. So if say you have say 21 total licenses available including the one they give you for Sage CRM, then any BOI connection will use any 1 from the pool of 21.

(The discussion on other threads was if there are multiple BOI connections running at same time then it would temporarily use multiple Sage licenses until it's done. The workaround is to have Sage running on the server where somebody is logged into the Launcher. Upside is no more than 1 BOI connection is ever used . The downside is you're always using a Sage license, and the server's desktop is always logged in)

    Hi there

Questions if anyone know (and I did a bunch of checking on the portal, in our own instances, as well on a client's instance):

    1. For Advanced and Premium, do they come with 2 additional licenses – one for the software to run on the server and one for Sage CRM to connect?
    2. Does Standard only come with one additional license for Sage CRM to connect?
    3. In theory, I assume a company cannot control BOI consuming which license?
    4. Let me give an example:
      1. In Advanced, an instance showed 17 registered users and 15 available when I was the only user logged in.

                                                                   i.      The company has a 15-user system.

          1. Can I assume 1 user was being consumed by me and 1 user was being consumed by the server component?

To tell you the truth, I know there is one free user of Sage CRM that the client gets, but I am not sure – does Sage CRM consume a Sage 100 license, and if so, does Sage provide an extra Sage 100 license to all companies?

    Thank you,

For 1 and 2, I believe that was true in the past but not sure if it's still true today. I'm sure others here know. But do use that trick I mentioned where the 17th and 18th digit of the 20-digit Unlocking Key from the Sage portal for the customer account tells you the real number of licenses in hexadecimal. So if it said "16", it means you have 22 real licenses (16x 1 then add 6 more).

For 3 and 4, your assumptions are correct.

Finally my edumucated guess is when the Integration Engine service (the middleware piece between CRM and Sage 100) is running, it consumes a license.

@Alnoor Cassim, is that 17th and 18th character thing still applicable?  I checked two clients but didn't see it.

Update: I worked with Doug and he checked 2 customers (one on Std, one on Prem) and for both the 17th and 18th digits when converted from hex to decimal, it did give the correct number of users when compared in Sage to the Total Number of Users in *INFO, albeit it's more users than they purchased/subscribed. Given what the Sage rep told him about no additional licenses being given out for Sage CRM (which itself is suspect), my working theory is you get 1 addl license for BOI regardless of platform, and 1 more for Adv / Prem because the Sage service takes up a license. Just an educated guess and nobody at Sage to validate it.

@Brett Zimmerman - The answer is not consistently apparently. I just checked in System Configuration for a v2020 Premium customer and the User Key there does follow the 17th and 18th hex digits.
