First of all....I hope everyone is doing well.....safe, healthy and dry....

I was just wondering, since a lot of customer have lost power over the last  couple of days, how is everyone handling the Payroll Tax Calculation when no internet or power is available.

This all reminds me of the "good old days" 3 years ago, that I had customers visiting me at home since I had a power generator, in order to process their payroll....

We are just beginning the high hurricane season....

    Thanks to everyone.....

    Keep safe!!

That is a question to post on Sage City for an official response.  (The developers do read SC, so you have a chance at a proper technical reply).

Good question. We are without power and Internet to almost 50% of Connecticut due to the storm.

Power is fairly easy to resolve with a generator.

Internet I’ve learned is tougher because even if you try to tether from a cell phone so is everyone else so that may not work either.

You’re left with traveling to a different location with power/internet ( if available ).

First, I feel like payroll is no longer a viable offering for me unless I want to be in the payroll service bureau business. ( I don’t ). It’s too complex, too deadline driven, too many changes.

Second, it seems the only way to backup against processing disruption is by using a host and 100% DD to employees. That way you primarily need Internet and power with less concern on printing and lining up checks.

My .02 is leave this hassle to the payroll processing companies. I feel like the bulk of payroll use ( except when time collection is integrated elsewhere to Sage ) is because the customer knows they’re getting payroll processing far cheaper from a VAR than a payroll company like ADP or Paychex.
