Today June 8, 2016, at 1pm ET - Sage talks about a couple new Sage 100c initiatives including Sage 100c Manufacturing and Sage Inventory Advisor Basics. The Sage 100c manufacturing has long been rumored to be Job Ops. This has been evidenced by two Sage Summit sessions that have been posted for a while and have said as much. The unknown is whether Sage could have bought Job Ops or whether Job Ops would be an endorsed solution. I think there are a few very important distinctions as an owned product would be on a faster track to being updated quickly vs an endorsed on. Sage Inventory Advisor Basics is going to be a ""free"" version of Sage Inventory Advisor with some features removed. From what I've heard it's a component of 100c subscription and is not going to be available for free to 100 customers. If you can, I think it will be worthwhile to attend. http://goo.gl/D5xUTQ

Sage did not buy JobOps; it is going to be the endorsed solution for manufacturing, available on 100c. I was on yesterday's session for JobOps partners.

Great Job @JohnHoyt - I wish they let you talk the entire time. The rest of these clowns need to get back to their spreadsheet forecasts. To roll out SIAB with a comment that ""this won't work for 30%"" completely ignores who is in the audience. Yeah, I want to go on the record to tell a customer to upgrade (for a material amount of money) and then find out their main reason , SIAB, isn't a fit.... The upsell just never stops.

So does this mean that if you are on 100 (not c) and want JobOps you can't buy it anymore?

    Posted 06-08-2016 14:02
Yes, that's what it means - they have to upgrade to 100c. Any prospects or 100 users that were already looking at JobOps can be ""saved"" for a period of time (don't know exactly when that ends) and license perpetual through Synergistic. For existing JobOps Solution Providers, there is a bonus in that they get tier credit with the 100c Sage Manufacturing. For all the prospects I currently have, they will all be 100c deals.

Was this recorded? I missed all the fun, though I suspect it has been well summarized above.

@JeffSchwenk If you were looking forward to hearing Linda Cade, you're out of luck. She had technical difficulties, so she was silent.

    Total BUMMER!!!!

That call raised more questions than it answered. - Will Job Ops continue to be available for sale to Sage 100 customers (new or existing)? - SIAB should have offered a 9 month unlimited trial versus this version which has certain confusing (to me) limitations which make me uncomfortable going to a customer and suggesting they 100 -> 100c largely for SIAB. - Has a bolt-on freebie ever incented a material number of customers to migrate? (Answer: No), (Source: Sage EES) - I don't think too much thought was put into the marketing angle of Sage 100c Job Ops and I read a few chat window messages questioning the positioning/name and that it creates confusion with WO/BOM/MRP - Someone asked ""what about Job Cost to framework"" - originally targeted phase 1 late 2016 (v2017) <crickets> - Manufacturing revamp design dates due by end of 2015 <crickets> But on the plus side, Sage have been working very very hard to squeeze what I think is likely some kind of web UI frame of Sage Payments Center web into the Sage Launcher. Good job folks!!

Converting WO to framework is still on the roadmap - in 2 years. There has been no discussion of how it will fit with ""Sage Manufacturing"". I would think Sage Manufacturing would continue to be the go to software for make to order and custom manufacturing, so that is a distinction. If they add functionality that brings WO closer to Sage Manufacturing, then it becomes confusing, except for the large price difference and the running in 100 or 100c. Personally I would rather see a JobOps lite created to fill the price gap and maintain some consistency.

Most of the questions I saw concerned the naming of Sage 100c Manufacturing. Sage need to make it clear exactly what's being purchased and on what type of licensing. The 100c pricing sheet is confusing because it's not immediately clear that you license both Sage 100c plus Sage 100c MFG on a per user basis and need to buy the same numbers of users.

I've been encouraged by my RSM to let sales management know what is less than ideal in terms of pricing, etc. That would be primarily Laura Biasucci - VP Sales and Dianna Lane - Director, US Field Sales. My constant point to Sage has been what they have created in complexity takes time away from meeting with prospects and closing sales.
