Tip of the day: Server moves, reinstallations are always separately quoted projects. The new trend is the IT person who ""knows it all"" and can ""make it work"" until they cannot. This then throws the customer into crisis (guess when this happens ---> (a) when you're on vacation, (b) when you are in the middle of an implementation or (c) in the middle of a large upgrade. The IT or customer has in most cases refused your offer to assist with the server move. When they find it is more complex than they think they come back for "" support ""... Don't let this happen. Before you go ""hands on"" get a fee agreement. Remember last who touches the computer owns the problem(s) in the eyes of the customer and if you start fiddling you've just taken on the project at no cost...

I think I detect the smell of burnt flesh, and I don't mean we are having a BBQ! Sorry if this is the voice of the Ghost of Services Past. We all want to learn from others rather than the school of hard knocks.

As the installed base ages this is something I'm seeing more and more. It's worth the reminder because you otherwise can get corralled into these adhoc projects.
