    Apparently, if people reply directly to the original message it can throw the threading somewhat out of order. This appears to happen when:

    Original Post (OP)
    -- REPLY
    New Reply ( To -- REPLY)
    New Reply ( To reply immediately above)
    Reply to (OP) 


    It results in replies that are out of order chronologically and difficult to follow when message threads get longer -as they frequently do with technical topics.

    It's not immediately clear where people should reply to  (nor will they likely follow guidelines unless they are very active)

    Yes, I did see an example reply odd sorting in the Product thread.

    I'm adding this topic, reply type, to our MOTM session.  It's great to have the choice but I agree the group may not understand the differences.

    A couple of notes:
    • At the top of each discussion post,  to the left of 'Sort by' drop-down are the Expand | Collapse toggles.  If you toggle these, the threads sort out by replay type in a summary fashion listing at the top of the post.  Maybe helpful. 
    • In the search results window,  the type of reply is listed which could be very useful.
