Those of you who are performing 2018 upgrades have you come up with any general rules on how to avoid Crystal compatibility issues during the testing phase?
- If I install 2018 to the server that an earlier Sage version is on - does that cause an issue? Do the problem(s) only occur when a workstation setup is run?
I am aware of the KB which gives some guidance -
https://support.na.sage.com/selfservice/viewdocument.do?noCount=true&externalId=86964&sliceId=1&cmd=¤tmsID=MS_Customer&docLink=true&isDocLink=true&languageId=&ViewedDocsListHelper=com.kanisa.apps.common.BaseViewedDocsListHelperImpl
However, the KB isn't clear on WHEN this issue arises. From quickly reading the KB I presume the issue only arises when workstation setup is run? Does this change for Advanced?
In a simple case, I'd set up my upgrade SERVER as:
x:\acct\v2014 (old version of Sage is here)
x:\acct\v2018 (new version of Sage)
I'm looking to head off issues in advance of them appearing since I have several upgrades and a few are either complex (high users) or both complex and high security where IT needs/wants to shadow my installs.
