This seems like it should be a simple question but I can't figure it out. There is a role option to not allow invoicing of SO's on hold but shipping data entry - which is like invoicing - still goes through. So, I thought I would modify the SO form to print a warning if the order has a Hold status - but I don't see that field in the work file. Please tell me I'm missing something!!

That is pretty unbelievable Therese! I guess you'll have to manually add it tto the work table.

Does shipping have a flag to allow overrides? Maybe this is what is letting it through.

Nope, nothing in Shipping set up options about this. There is a checkbox in the picking sheet printing window for printing those for orders on hold but not in the SO printing window. This customer has ALWAYS used an SO form for their picking sheet because they couldn't print those in older versions from data entry. I know that has changed but try changing a customer's mindset... I truly thought this would be an easy one. My bad.

Have you tried to invoice the order on hold in invoice data entry? In 4.50 it is letting me even though I took off the "" allow to invoice orders on hold"" ?

Hmm, no haven't tried that @DianeRuth . This is 4.4.6 but if that is true, isn't that a bug?

You would think ! I tested it in 4.5.3

I just tried in 4.5.3 and it wouldn't let me do either - says the order is on hold and cannot be invoiced or shipped. Only thing I changed was the role.

Just tried in 4.40.0.9 and it wouldn't let me do an invoice or shipping.

@ThereseLogeais did you figure this out? With what @RobertaFerguson is saying it is looking like we have something checked in Role Maint that is allowing us to still invoice.

The customer's role did not have the ""Allow to Invoice Orders with Hold Status"" under Module Options selected. @RobertaFerguson are you referring to a different role option???

It is under module options.

I know it is @JeffSchwenk . That's the one I mentioned. It was not selected and supposedly, they could still ship the order on hold, which is like invoicing, no? Roberta says it shouldn't allow it so I'm wondering if she was referring to a different role option.

That is the one I unchecked. I have everything else in the role checked so maybe it is a combination of that and something else. Can you try a role with just that unchecked and see how it works for you?

Check it on, save it, then uncheck it. Also, by any chance, does this user have multiple roles? BTW, I read your note too quickly. I read it that it wasn't appearing at all. My apologies.

I will have to log in to this customer again and try it. It doesn't allow it on my 4.4. Your tactic might work @JeffSchwenk . I'll let you know.

I just retried and made sure role had all checked but ""so on hold"" and it still letting me invoice - I am on 4.50.3 also and not sure how @RobertaFerguson it to worked for you....

Oh and did check all and then took it off like @JeffSchwenk said. Only one role also.

That makes me think it might be a setup option - I will look closer at that.

Well what do you know? @JeffSchwenk was right! The user had two roles, one with that option selected. I tested it after removing it and now it does NOT allow shipping... Yay!!!

Ok didn't realize I had default role on this version also and once removed then it worked !! Thanks @JeffSchwenk
